Arlan Hamilton, founder at Backstage Capital and Runner, is a serial entrepreneur, author and master multi-tasker.
Hamilton founded Backstage Capital in 2015 to invest in founders who are people of color, women and/or LGBTQ. Since its founding, Backstage has raised nearly $30 million and invested in 200 startups led by underestimated founders.
In 2021, Hamilton founded talent operations startup Runner to connect outstanding operations talent with inclusive companies. Runner has already raised $2 million from investors like Precursor Ventures, Lunar Startups, Kapor Capital and others.
Arlan published her book, “It’s About Damn Time,” in 2020, detailing her journey from homelessness to venture capital. Arlan also hosts podcasts “Your First Million” and “Demystifying Faith,” and is the executive producer on “The Valley,” a daily soap opera that is like “General Hospital” but for the tech industry.
Arlan is a proponent of paying it forward and supporting other underestimated people in the tech industry and beyond. Kyla Jenee Lacey is a writer, speaker, and spoken word artist from the Central Florida region. She has performed at over 300 colleges and universities in the United States. Her work is also studied at the collegiate level, and made international news when a teacher in Tennessee was fired for showing it to his classroom. She has been referenced in articles by the New York Times, Boston Globe, the Atlantic, the Washington Post and many others, including Fox News which called her work anti-racist propaganda, because they would definitely know. She has appeared and been featured by the Tamron Hall Show and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. She is also a crazy cat lady who paints on the side.

Lily Zheng (they/them, she/her) is a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Consultant and Executive Coach who works with organizations around the world to create high-impact and sustainable change. With their clients, they leverage organizational design, strategy, and culture to find novel solutions to systemic inequalities. A dedicated change-maker and advocate recently named a Forbes D&I Trailblazer, Lily writes for publications including the Harvard Business Review, Berrett-Koehler, and HR Executive. They recently published their second book, The Ethical Sellout: Maintaining Your Integrity in the Age of Compromise.
Ruchika Tulshyan is the author of Inclusion on Purpose: An Intersectional Approach to Creating a Culture of Belonging at Work (MIT Press). She’s also the founder of Candour, an inclusion strategy practice. A former international business journalist, Ruchika is a regular contributor to The New York Times and Harvard Business Review.
As a keynote speaker, Ruchika has addressed audiences at organizations like NASA, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and U.S. Congress.

Cynthia Owyoung is the author of "All Are Welcome: How to Build a Real Workplace Culture of Inclusion that Delivers Results," a playbook for driving progress in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) inside organizations. She has established and led DEIB initiatives for 20 years as an executive at organizations across multiple industries, including Robinhood, Charles Schwab, Github and Yahoo!. In addition, Cynthia founded Breaking Glass Forums, a boutique agency developing strategies to accelerate diverse leadership and inclusive organizations.
Prior to her work in human resources, Cynthia launched a strategic planning consultancy, increasing the capabilities of nonprofit and for-profit organizations in organizational development, brand marketing, and business strategy. She also built a decade-long career as a Brand Strategist for leading global brands and advertising agencies, developing campaigns for Microsoft, Levi Strauss, and Apple.
Cynthia currently serves on the Board of Directors for AbilityPath, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering people with special needs to achieve their full potential. She earned an MBA in organizational behavior from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, a bachelor’s in marketing and finance from UC Berkeley’s Haas Business School, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, also from UC Berkeley.

Brittany Janay is the Founder of In Loving Accountability Coaching & Consulting where her work is grounded in supporting leaders and change makers with embodying leadership as a love practice, narrowing the gap between their values and how they show up. She is also the creator of Liberated Love Notes: Critical Self-Reflections and Affirmations for The Culture, an affirmation card deck that centers the experiences of Black folks existing in and healing from predominantly white spaces.

Sharon Hurley Hall is an anti-racism activist, writer, and educator. Firmly committed to doing her part to eliminate racism, she is the Founder and Curator-in-Chief of Sharon’s Anti-Racism Newsletter. In this twice-weekly online publication, Sharon writes about existing while Black in majority-white spaces, and amplifies the voices of other anti-racism activists. She has written and ghostwritten articles for companies and non-profits looking to show up authentically with their DEIB and JEDI content. Sharon is also the Head of Anti-Racism for Diverse Leaders Group. Sharon has recently published an essay collection, titled "I'm Tired of Racism".
Carmen Drummond is a Senior Program Manager at the Center for Minority Veterans and a Qualified Inclusive Leader that has continuously proven herself as a noteworthy authority and leader in the advancement of diversity efforts with special emphasis on veteran services.
Working closely with vulnerable populations, Carmen has been an inspiration in her dedication towards correcting workplace and social injustices - but especially when it comes to America's heroes. She provides support, advocacy and resources while working to raise public awareness on how veteran barriers create complications for the veteran, family members and care takers.
Carmen spent time looking for solutions to veteran unemployment early on in her career since she too lacked a home or means of living after transitioning out of the military. This led her to focus on breaking down barriers within the veteran transition process, which increased employment for veterans and their caregivers within the Northeast region, resulting in a cumulative salary of $22M in economic development. She has experienced success working with workplace DEI programs and speaking about entrepreneurship with various audiences. She adds value to her clients mission by providing training, access, and expertise that allows them yo transform workplace cultures and add value to the employee experience .
Joy Donnell is a producer, writer and strategist dedicated to the psychospiritual power of storytelling. Her work has been featured in W Magazine, HuffPost, and Vogue Italia to name a few. She is cofounder of CIME, the Center for Intersectional Media and Entertainment, which focuses on how our stories make us feel and the tools needed to create restorative narratives. Katrina Jones believes that when we prioritize closing equity gaps, our workplaces can become spaces of learning and growth where everyone thrives. Kimberly Jones is a native of Columbus, OH and is fortunate to have lived and worked across the country. LeRon L. Barton is a writer from Kansas City, Missouri currently living in San Francisco, CA. A graduate of Paseo Academy of Fine Arts, LeRon is the author of two books, Straight Dope: A 360 degree look into American Drug Culture and All We Really Need Is Love: Stories of Dating, Relationships, Heartbreak, and Marriage. Sacha Thompson is the founder of The Equity Equation, LLC, a diversity coaching and consulting firm based in the Washington, DC area. With nearly 20 years of experience within the education, non-profit, and tech industries, Sacha has seen the challenges faced by executives with good intentions struggling to make decisions around diversity; where executives are motivated to do the ‘right thing’ regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) but may be hindered by their own biases and fears. Honorably discharged from the United States.Army following 12 years of service, Chiriga Moore, affectionately known as Zoe (pronounced ZOH) completed an M.S. in Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism and then started an event planning company in Oakland, CA. Learning that Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) were not prioritized in the meetings, events and tourism industry, she became an advocate to help spark dialogue and action in the areas of supplier diversity, organizational culture and diverse representation in leadership.

Ashanti Martin is a veteran communications specialist whose work focuses on the intersection of communication, technology, and Black culture. In 2020, Ashanti wrote an article for the Sunday New York Times about LinkedIn that galvanized a movement to transform the workplace experience for Black and other marginalized communities. Her podcast, “EdUp Explained,” is centered on media literacy, critical thinking, and social justice. Ashanti is a native of Yonkers, N.Y., and holds a master’s degree in communication and media from the Rutgers School of Communication and Information. Over the course of her career, she has worked for The Record of Hackensack, N.J., Rutgers University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Wharton School.
Damian is a Business Operations & Excellence professional at Microsoft. Currently he serves as Business Manager Xbox Gaming Ecosystem, supporting Gaming Executives within the Xbox Organization to meet xbox’s most critical business goals. Prior to his current role in tech, Damian focused on Business Architecture and process improvement for a leading insurance provider and was a former athlete. What really motivates Damian is creating space, mentorship, and being an example for people who come from where he comes from. Rachel Kay is a talent and organizational development leader at Google and a certified professional diversity Coach. Prior to her current, role served as the Head of Product Localization Strategy, managing an operational budget of $53M and leading a team responsible for localizing 50+ Google products globally to ensure native user experiences. What really makes Rachel tick is leveraging her background in learning and organizational development to drive equitable outcomes for all. Among Rachel’s proudest professional accomplishments is serving on the board of an internal organization with the goal of making the business unit a place where Black+ women thrive. In that role, her focus is on driving manager capability to create equitable and psychologically-safe teams for every employee. In her coaching and consulting practice, Rachel works with individuals and groups. She specializes in helping dominant group members lead with cultural awareness to drive equity in their organizations and working with members of historically excluded groups on defining what success looks like for them and how to meet their goals.
Rachel holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A in Social Thought and Analysis and French from Washington University. She is a Certified Professional Diversity Coach through the CoachDiversity Institute, a Hudson Institute certified executive coach and certified through the International Coaching Federation (ACC). Rachel lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children. Diya is a Global Diversity Equity Inclusion speaker, facilitator, consultant with 20 year’s experience in profit, non-profit, and tech. She worked at Amazon where she led CORE+ (Conversations on Race and Ethnicity), an annual internal conference for 1.3 million employees. Her work is focused on developing DEI programs, strategies, policies at scale. She has developed global work plans for 14 Employee Resource Groups and led courses on the Future of Work and How to Rebuild Workplaces from an Intersectional Lens. She is a proven subject matter expert and is known for big vision and tactical implementation. Diya has a life-long mission of increasing access and opportunity of people across race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, accessibility, sexual orientation, social class, military, status, religion, age, and language in every professional industry. She worked as a DEI consultant in Canada, Japan, Singapore, Germany and the US. She was a DEI columnist for The Seattle Times, a board member of the Asians@Amazon global board and was appointed to the Seattle Women’s Commission in 2018.

Candice Bristow has over 20 years of recruiting and human resources experience with a particular emphasis on equity, inclusion, and diversity (EID). She is currently the Director, EID for Expel, a managed security provider, delivering solutions that enhances workforce engagement, reduces biases in hiring processes, and creating a culture that welcomes everyone to do great work. She works in collaboration with executive leadership to develop and execute strategies to build connections, increase the dimensionality of diversity within our teams, and embed EID into all our employee programs.

Maithili Dandige is a Partner Group Product leader working in the Security org, and in Microsoft for 18 years. She is a mother to two wonderful boys ages 13 and 8.
